Teia DAO development update (with translations)

This is the Article version of the Twitter Thread on the current state of the Teia DAO development.

It has been a long process, but we are soon prepared to start the first phase of the Teia DAO launch! To get to this exact moment, we had to follow a long list of steps:

Research

• Collecting the main DAO requirements, from a functional and a legal point of view. ✅
• Analyzing at existing tezos DAOs (e.g. Kolibri DAO, Homebase DAO) and learn from them. ✅

Legal

• Finding possible legal pathways to register our DAO as a non profit entity ✅ see also: Legal discussion writeup on discourse

Smartcontract development

• Writing the DAO token smart contract.✅
• Writing the smart contract to distribute the tokens.✅
• Writing the multisig smart contracts for the different figures that will keep the DAO safe: DAO guardians and DAO admins.✅
• Writing the DAO treasury smart contract, where the tez collected from fees and donations and the reserve of DAO tokens will be stored. ✅
• Writing the multisig smart contract for the Teia Community Representatives, which will make sure that all communities, big or small, will have a say and a vote in the DAO. ✅
• Writing the DAO governance contract where DAO representatives and DAO token holders (you!) will be able to submit, vote and execute proposals. ✅ Find all our DAO smartcontracts here (huge shoutout to smart contract dev jagracar
• Implementing 3 dApps to interact with the different smart contracts in an easy and intuitive way. ✅ Testing that all these contracts + dApps work together in the testnet. ✅ see: https://teia-dao.onrender.com/

Distribution

• Writing the script that collects all the user activity information + hDAO snapshot needed to design the token distribution. ✅
• Design different DAO token distribution models based on the activity and hDAO parameters. ⬅️ We are here now

So what is next? We are currently working on different distribution models for the Token drop based on different on-chain parameter and plan to put a few of those different distribution models up for a community vote. For this we need your input and feeling about what's fair and reasonable.

Over the next days, we will run a few twitter polls on this twitter account to get general feedback on some distribution parameters. Please note that these won't be official "voting rounds" but supposed to get some general, non-binding feedback. Stay tuned!

Along with deciding on the Token distribution models, we need to tackle a few open questions and tasks:

• Start distributing the tokens based on the chosen token model via a claim site (maybe in about 1 month)
• Defining the representative figures and how they are appointed to the representative multisig. The current idea is to give representative multsig wallet 30% voting power overall and The DAO Token votes 70% of overall voting power.
• Approve the legal registration roadmap, vote on a current budget and activate a marketplace fee once we have a decided registration roadmap and know who will be doing the official registration.
• Defining general DAO governance "rules" (i.e. requirements for proposals, bounty systems, deciding wether we should hire people or stay maintained by volunteers as much as possible)
• Deploy the rest of smart contracts and start using the DAO for voting. (could happen in about 3 months - until then we will be using teia vote for community voting - vote.teia.art)
• Registering our DAO as a legal entity. After a lot of research it got clear that we will register as a non-profit LLC that wont distribute gains to token holders. The DAO Tokens are soley used for governance/voting and no promises of profit are given. Teia wont sell the token either. they will all be distributed via claim. Teia doesnt aim to be a for profit company but a place built and maintained by its members to have a marketplace of their own.
• And finally: Be a sustainable, inclusive and community governed NFT martketplace.

So: Not that far, but some happy little challenges ahead.

Distribuição

E agora?

Estamos nesse momento trabalhando em diferentes modelos de distribuição para o drop do Token baseado em diferentes parâmetros "on-chain" e planejando colocar alguns desses modelos de distribuição para uma votação da comunidade.

Para isso nós precisamos da sua opinião sobre o que é justo e faz sentido.

Pelos próximos dias nós vamos fazer alguma votações na conta do twitter pra ter um feedback geral em alguns dos parâmetros da distribuição. Por favor, note que essas não serão "votações oficiais" mas pra termos um feedback geral não-vinculativo. Fique de olho!

Junto com a decisão do modelo de distribuição dos tokens, temos que derrubar algumas questões e tarefas em aberto:

• Começar a distribuir tokens baseados no modelo escolhido via um "claim site" (talvez em 1 mês)
• Definir as figuras representativas e como eles serão apontados como representantes do multisig. A idéia atual é dar poder de votação representativo da wallet multisig 30% no geral e nos votos de Token DAO 70% no geral.
• Aprovar o registro legal do roadmap, votar em um orçamento atual e ativar a taxa do marketplace quando tivermos decidido o registro do roadmap e saber quem fará o registro oficial.
• Definir as "regras" gerais da governância da DAO (requerimentos para propostas, sistemas de recompensa, decidir se nós devemos contratar pessoas ou continuar mantido por voluntários o máximo possível)
• Implantar os smart contracts restantes usando a DAO para votar. (pode acontecer em 3 meses - até então estaremos usando o "Teia Vote" para votos da comunidade - https://vote.teia.art/)
• Registrando nosso DAO como uma entidade legal. Após uma longa pesquisa ficou claro que temos que registrar uma LLC sem fins lucrativos que não irão distribuir ganhos para titulares de tokens. Os Tokens DAO são usados somente para governança/votações, sem promessas de lucro.
• Teia não venderá o token também. Eles serão distribuidos por "claim". Teia não mira em ser uma companhia com fins lucrativos mas um lugar construido e mantido por seus membros para ter um marketplace para chamar de seu.
• E finalmente: Ser um mercado de NFT governado pela comunidade, sustentável e inclusivo.

Então: Não está muito longe, teremos algumas mudanças felizes afrente.

Verteilung

In den nächsten Tagen (Stand 17.Mai) werden wir einige Twitter-Umfragen auf dem @TeiaCommunity Twitter-Konto durchführen, um allgemeines Feedback zu einigen Verteilungsparametern zu erhalten. Bitte beachtet, dass dies keine offiziellen "Abstimmungsrunden" sind, sondern allgemeines, unverbindliches Feedback ergeben soll. Seid gespannt!

Neben der Entscheidung über die Token-Verteilungsmodelle müssen wir einige offene Fragen und Aufgaben angehen:

• Beginn der Verteilung der Token, basierend auf dem gewählten Token-Modell, über eine Claim-/Abruf-Seite (evtl. in etwa 1 Monat)
• Definition der repräsentativen Figuren/Rollen und wie diese zum repräsentativen Multisig ernannt werden. Die aktuelle Idee ist, dem repräsentativen Multisig-Wallet insgesamt 30 % Stimmrecht und den DAO-Token Stimmen 70 % des Gesamtstimmrechts zu geben.
• Genehmigung der Roadmap zur rechtlichen Registrierung, Abstimmung über ein aktuelles Budget, Aktivierung der Marktplatz-Gebühr, sobald wir eine Registrierungs-Roadmap haben und wissen, wer die offizielle Registrierung übernimmt.
• Definition allgemeiner DAO-Governance-"Regeln" (z.B. Anforderungen für offizielle Vorschläge, Prämiensysteme, Entscheidung, ob wir Mitarbeiter einstellen oder uns so weit wie möglich auf Freiwilligen stützen sollen)
• Den Rest der Smart Contracts ausführen und mit der Verwendung der DAO für Abstimmungen beginnen. (könnte in etwa 3 Monate erfolgen - bis dahin werden wir Teia-Voting für die Community-Abstimmung verwenden -) https://vote.hencommunity.quest/
• Registrierung unserer DAO als juristische Person. Nach vielen Recherchen wurde klar, dass wir uns als gemeinnützige LLC registrieren lassen, die keine Gewinne an Token-Inhaber ausschüttet. Die DAO-Token werden ausschließlich für Governance/Abstimmungen verwendet und es werden keine Gewinnversprechen gegeben.
• Teia wird den Token auch nicht verkaufen. Die Token werden alle über Claim/Abruf verteilt. Teia möchte kein gewinnorientiertes Unternehmen sein, sondern ein Ort, der von seinen Mitgliedern erbaut und gepflegt wird, um einen eigenen Marktplatz zu haben.
• Und schließlich: ein nachhaltiger, integrativer und von der Gemeinschaft verwalteter NFT-Marktplatz sein.

Insofern: wir sind nicht mehr weit entfernt aber haben noch einige kleine Herausforderungen vor uns.

Natürlich ist das Thema Governance umstritten und wir freuen uns über jeden konstruktiven Input. Teia ist ein offenes Projekt. Jeder ist willkommen, sich dem Aufbau der DAO anzuschließen, scheut euch nicht, zu diskutieren, Fragen zu stellen und eure Meinung zu äußern.
